The press conference brought together creative director Tricia Tuttle and the seven members of the international jury, who will select the winners of the Golden and Silver Bears. The jury is chaired by German director Wim Wenders, and includes Nepali director Min Bahadur Bham, South Korean actress Bae Doona, Indian director and producer Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, American director Reinaldo Marcus Green, Japanese director Hikari, and Polish producer Ewa Puszczyńska. The debate comes amid an ongoing two-year discussion within the festival on how to address the Gaza genocide, especially following the 2024 edition, when Israeli director Yuval Abraham publicly criticized Israeli policies, prompting a series of accusations against the festival’s management.
